The purpose of a Dangerous Goods code is to provide technical requirements for transport. When creating a consignment, extra paperwork will be generated with all the Dangerous Goods information. If the freight will be travelling by sea you need to add an extra form, MO41 Sea Freight form.
Dangerous Goods code contains:
- Trade name
- Classification
- Packaging group
- Unit of measurement
- Container type, such as tin, bin, can, drum
- Login into Cario
- Click on 'Maintenance - Hazardous Materials' on the left-hand side
- To add hazardous materials, click on the red plus-sign
- A separate screen will be opened
- Enter the 'Dangerous Goods code', only numbers, no UN
- The proper shipping name, class, division and packing group will be entered automatically
- Enter the 'Trade name'
- Enter the 'aggregated quantity' = how many litres/kilos of dangerous goods
- Enter the 'Unit of Measurements' in litres or kilos
- Enter the 'Receptacle (container)'
- Select [OK]
