Purpose

Printing from the consigning screens can be automated so that the Label and Con note printer windows do not pop up and the documents can be printed to specific local printers.

This process uses a Tray Icon program to intercept the print files and direct them to the designated printer. 

There are steps that need to be performed to set the process up.

Each Local PC should have a unique Cario username (preferable) unless all PC’s have the sane printers available and the Printer names on all PC’s are the same.

To use Auto Print, the users need to have the appropriate properties set for the user role they have been assigned to.

These properties:

1. Make the Printer Configuration Menu visible

And

2. Turn Auto print on for the consigning screens

Note: Even if this property is set for the user’s role, Auto print will not be an available unless the Tray Icon program is installed and running.

Configuring the printers

Selecting the Menu item “Printers Config” will bring us the following screen:

Installing QZ-Tray

This screen will check to see if the Tray icon QZ-Tray id running. If it is not, it needs to be installed and run. 

The above message shows that that it needs to be installed (if already installed but not running then the message is the same. Reinstalling will not cause any issues). 

Click the highlighted “here” to download the program and install it.

The program will download into your Downloads directory and should appear at the bottom or the browser window.

Click the downloaded program to install it.

If it is not at the bottom of the screen as shown above, go to File Explorer on your PC, navigate to the Downloads directory and double click on the program to run it. It will look similar to the below.

The following dialog will be displayed when installing QZ-Tray:

If you see a window requesting the program to make changes to your computer click Yes.

Then

Click “Next”

Click “Install” to install in the default location

The program will show install progress then the following:

Click “Close” to complete the install process.

Once installed the Tray Icon should be visible by checking the Tray Icons at the bottom right of the screen. If the icon is not visible on the status bar, click the up arrow Icon to pop up the Tray Icons programs and then click the 

QZ-Tray icon  to set the “Automatically Start” on so that it will start automatically.

Now that the Tray Icon program is installed, you can configure the printers.

Setting the default printers

On the Cario Printer Config screen, if the Install message is still displayed, press the F5 key (Function Key F5 on your keyboard) This will refresh the page. The page will check that QZ-Tray is running and if it is found it will display the Printer selection screen.

The web page will have no values defined at this stage,

Click the drop down next to the “Default Label Printer” and then the “Default Connote Printer” and choose the appropriate printer.

Note: Printer defaults are set by username. If multiple users will log on to this computer or if the user uses multiple computers, then the defaults may need to be reset when the user logs onto a different compute unless all printers on each PC are the same.

Refreshing the printer list after adding new printers

Note: The available printer list is obtained when QZ-Tray is started, If new printers are added, QZ-Tray must be stopped and restarted to acquire the new printer list for them to be available for selection.

Note: Leave the “Post back File Path” blank unless specifically asked to set the value by your freight provider. This setting is used to pass data back when a consignment is completed and requires system configuration before the property is set. Setting this value before back end configuration is completed may result in an error when consigning.

If required specific printers can be assigned for services as shown below. Use the red + sign to add a new row, Select the service and the printers needed, both the label and con note printers need to be set for a specific service.

Click the tick on the right to complete the line.

In this example all labels will print to the default printer “Datamax E-2403” except for service “Hi-Trans Express” which will print to printer “Canon MX490 series Printer WS”.

Note: Con notes will all print to the “NPIFE144F (HP Laserjet 200 color MFP….)” printer because it is the Default Con Note printer and it has also been selected for Hi Trans Express Con notes.

When all printer assignments are entered, Click “Save” to save the settings.

Using Auto Print

Once the configuration is completed, The Consigning screen when it loads will check for the correct properties for the user (“Enable Auto Print”) and QZ-Tray is running.

If the above rules are satisfied, is displayed at the bottom of the Consignment screen.

To stop Auto Printing stop QZ-Tray from the Tray icon. Once stopped will not be displayed on the consigning screens.

Note: If a consigning screen displays after you have stopped QZ-Tray, press F5 (Function key 5) to refresh the screen.

Once QZ-Tray is stopped, Labels and Con notes will be displayed on the screen for manual selection of printers.
